The final two rounds of the Doms Motors Griffith Golf Club Championships were played last weekend.
Once again, Mathew Staines regained the title with what can only be described as a runaway win.
He could not play last year due to injury but he showed he is a cut above the others, recording a one under par total of 283 for the four rounds.
His nearest rival, also a former champion, Jason Magoci finished second, 23 shots back on 306 with last year's winner, Josh Stapleton, having a championship to forget, not able to break 80 in the final two rounds to total 32 for the four rounds.
Staines actually played better in the first two rounds in terrible conditions, gale force winds, cold and rain, shooting 71, 67 before firing 75, 70 in last weekend's perfect conditions.
Magoci did the same, 78, 71, 78, 79.
Stapleton 73, 74, 87, 86.
Gerry Cox maintained his hold on A Reserve, with a six shot win over Bryan Salvestro 336 to 342, whilst early leader Tony McBride faded to third on 344.
Alf Franchi, the B Grade winner, went into the final two days with a narrow lead but handled the pressure best, to shoot 82 on both days to total 350.
John Gale was second on 370, Robin Salvestro 371.
There is a bright future ahead for C Grade champion, 16-year-old Joshua Smith who held his nerve after a second round of 103 to take the title on 386 over Anthony Zamin 388.
He also won the Griffith Golf Club Junior Title.
Staines who now plays off +4 also won handicap in A Grade on 294 nett, something rarely seen,13 shots worse than his scratch score.
Luke DeValentin was second on 302 nett.
Bryan Salvestro won the A Reserve Handicap on 299 nett.
Gerry Cox, 300 nett, was second on a countback over Brett Angel 300 nett.
Alf Franchi also scored the double in B Grade on 291 nett, Robin Salvestro, 307 nett, finished second.
Anthony Zamin turned the table on Joshua Smith to win the C Grade Handicap with a total of 303 nett, Smith 305 nett.
