It may be something like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory for the shopping enthusiast or savvy saver but Griffith has waited in anticipation, filled with excitement for those doors to slide open.
From clothing, toys and home wares, it will provide residents with the one-stop-shop for the necessities, boredom-busters and dust-collectors alike.
Store manager Corey Martin, while feeling incredibly privileged to be a part of this momentous opening, said he was also experiencing an interesting kind of nervous anticipation.
Meet the team and get a walk-through in our video below:
"It's just been incredible," Mr Martin said.
"We would go and have meetings in cafes and get coffee in our Kmart shirts, and we would have people coming up on the street asking us when it would be opening - the response from Griffith people has been fantastic.
"The last thing everyone would say to us was 'hurry up'!" he joked.
Yet with his new team already proving worth their salt in the start-up, he is sure everything will go off without a hitch.
"Everyone in the team has worked so hard to get the store where it is now, and we are all are so pumped for Thursday, we can't wait."
Even since the recruitment stage, he has witnessed overwhelming interest since the beginning.
Mr Martin personally went through every single one of the whopping 560 job applications, and is now super proud of his 162 strong group, with all except six hired from the local area.

- Corey Martin, store manager
All of the chosen team members undertook intensive training in preparation for the opening, gaining exposure to a variety of roles and responsibilities, all the while perfecting their customer service skills.
One of those team members, Roz Scott, felt a little overwhelmed at the massive job ahead walking into an empty store that first day.
"We walked in and when I saw the store completely bare, I thought how on earth will we do that?" she remembered.
"Seeing it all now, the before and after is pretty impressive."
In a walk-through of the store, Mr Martin explains that the layout is all about the flow.
"The layout is designed to reflect what you'd find in your house and where," he said.
The collective hopes of MIA residents that Kmart was coming were raised after they felt the devastating blow of Big W's closure in 2018 after having the chain for close on 40 years.

Filling Big W's market shoes as well as the physical space, the 4,300 square meter store has been refurbished and will showcase the fresh Kmart layout currently being rolled out nationally.
Many special events are planned for the opening including free gift bags for the first 250 customers who make a purchase.
Free cupcakes for the first 250 customers, Griffith Lions Club onsite until 11am providing free bacon and egg rolls, with Peeches coffee cart selling coffee to fuel the inevitable Kmart kraze.
