The Yoogali side made a strong start as after a free kick from Steve Crombie hit the crossbar, and Mitch Bagiante was able to continue his purple patch to tuck in the rebound to make it 1-0 after three minutes.
The Hanwood side was able to scramble in defence to ensure they didn't fall further behind as Josh Keenan was able to get a shot away that was cleared off the line while Dean Burge in the Hanwood goal was able to prevent Bagiante scoring his second.
Yoogali would go close again through Jack Moon before the young winger was able to provide a cross that was brought down by Baginate who exchanged a one-two with Keenan before placing the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
To round out a strong first half Baginate was able to make a quick turn away from the Hanwood defence before making a 40-metre break to complete his first-half hat-trick and see Yoogali SC lead 3-0 at the break.
Bagiante went close to adding a fourth however his shot cannoned off the crossbar and back into play. The ball found its way to the foot of Sunny Khera who was able to pick out Keenan at the top of the six-yard box, and the young forward got his head to the ball to guide it into the net.
Hanwood was able to get one back in the final 10 minutes after Jacob Donadel gave away a free kick just outside the box. Alan Lachmund stepped up to the ball and guided it into the back of the net to see the game finish 4-1 in favour of Yoogali SC.
Yoogali SC coach Luke Santolin was happy with his side's performance but knows there is still room for improvement.
"Look it was a hard game to play, we had a lot of possession and Hanwood defended for 90 minutes, so credit to them," he said.
"We played people in different positions, and I think we created a lot of chances.
"Our finishing lead left a bit to be desired, but we will try and work on that."
The Yoogali side dominated the game for large periods of the match, and Santolin felt they could have done better with possession had they kept it simple.
"It's good, but sometimes we get sucked into trying to play the most exciting ball," he said.
"The most simple soccer is the hardest soccer to play so we have to work on our discipline because the business end of the season you don't get as much time with the ball."
The Yoogali SC side will now turn their attention to taking on Yoogali FC while Hanwood will take on West Griffith.
