RE-THINK NEEDED ON SWIMMING POOL
With all good intentions, the demolishing of the Griffith 50 metre pool complex was a disaster not so many years ago.

In 2006 the then pool manager and a Griffith councillor publicly addressed their concern about the increasing traffic in this precinct.
So to even think of putting a newer complex in the same place will be throwing good money at bad money.
Taking into consideration that Griffith will continue to grow in population, therefore to be visionary, plans should be made to make provision for a 50 metre standard Olympic Pool, with tree shading for the pool and parking.
Many including myself have proposed a corner of the old Showground which has been crying out for attention and still is.
It is also very central just a short distance from the GPO.
Also when the $45 million dollars was on the table for the merger of the two high schools to be one unit a new Pool was to be there for for new merged high school campus.
To be quite frank the old showground is just a dreadful eyesore now. However this very large area has so much potential.
For example, a white picket fence sporting oval with planted trees and walking tracks could be included.
The historic Woodside Hall should stay for posterity and new open air covered sheds for markets could be built as well.
Just do it before this NSW government sells it like it has done with many other public assets.
