Revenue NSW apologised for the error after The Area News published an article on Mr Clarke's case.
"We apologise that the original review was not conducted correctly and in accordance with our guidelines and also apologise for any inconvenience this has caused," they wrote in a letter to Mr Clarke.
The saga began when Mr Clarke was slapped with a fine by a Griffith City Council contractor for parking his panel van in a loading zone in Banna Lane, even though it's perfectly within his legal rights to do so as a waste oil collector.
It was a small fine, but Mr Clarke said he had refused to pay it on principle.
At the time he had been prepared to take it all the way to court, even if the lawyer fees ended up being more expensive than the fine itself.
But now that won't be necessary, now that the fine has been overturned.
