The Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) forum held in Griffith recently saw almost 200 visitors flood the city to discuss topical health issues and network.
Griffith's LHAC president Margaret King said it was a thoroughly rewarding to see the two days culminate after six months of careful planning.
"We wanted to ensure this was unforgettable forum," Mrs King said.
"It was really good agenda, covering a lot of topical areas. There was a sub-theme of aboriginal health running throughout the two days."
She said many people came away enlightened by speakers talking about the issues facing the community.
Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service Outreach Worker Richard Bamblett was one of the guest speakers, and for Mrs King was by far the most moving.
"He spoke about the services that the staff deliver, however when speaking about working with those affected by the stolen generation, he got so emotional and you could tell it was close to his heart. It was incredibly moving."
Not only Mr Bamblett, but a cross section of engaging speakers delved into integrating care.
"It is a topic in the limelight at the moment, about doing things differently. Looking after people in their own homes, making it less about hospitals," Mrs King said.
"It's so current and topical because we are moving close to our hospital redevelopment that will completely change how we deliver care."
Networking within LHACs, open mic sessions, discussing projects and other health activities was "invaluable" to inspire and reinvigorate attendees.

"We are all volunteers. We sit on committees and it can be difficult, but this was reinvigorating and helped us regain a sense of purpose."
Thursday also saw the inaugural 'Pitch Night' held, seeing three deserving projects receive funding, the amount of which was decided by those in attendance listening to their project pitches.

A boost to Griffith tourism, the forum also presented opportunities to showcase the city, with tours to the Sikh Temple and to Flavourtech which were well received.
