The money would go to the Griffith Salvation Army Crisis and Transitional Accommodation Centre, which has been struggling to keep up with the desperate levels of demand.
The funding promise was announced by Labor Senator Deborah O'Neill, who came to Griffith to prop up her local candidate Kieran Drabsch in the lead up to the Federal election in May.
Senator O'Neill said the Salvos deserved a bit of a leg up so they could continue doing their good work for the community.
"I know many people whose lives have been transformed by the care and the love the Salvation Army has given them as an expression of their faith," Senator O'Neill said.

"When you find a place where you feel welcome, safe, and respected, that's a very powerful thing."
Salvation Army major Lyn Cathcart said the money would go a long way to give some comfort to those with nothing.
Top on their shopping list would be couch-beds, lockers, a stove, freezer, and TV.
"We want to make this place feel like home so that people can feel comfortable," Major Cathcart said.
There will be more funding announcements as the Federal election draws nigh, and Labor candidate Kieran Drabsch is braced for a fight.
He's quit his job as a teacher at Murrumbidgee Regional High School to focus fully on wresting the throne from Liberal incumbent Sussan Ley.
"I will work with Senator Deborah O'Neill and other members of the Labor to get the services into our community that have been lacking for many decades now," Mr Drabsch said.
"I want to be an advocate for change and support out here."
He will be running under the banner of a "Fairer Farrer", demanding better services for those areas "ignored" by the government.
He's hoping that message will resonate with Griffith voters in the lead up to the Federal election in May.
