"All the magic happens there," Mr McLean said.
It's where the members of the band Side Effect gather for their regular jam sessions and to test their instruments.
They've got a lot to work with; with 20 guitars and a whole shed load of equipment they have enough instruments to give Jack Black heart palpitations.
All their practice paid off when they opened the show at Rewind at the Vines to an adoring crowd.
Guitarist Luke Beltrame said the audience feedback was phenomenal.
"People came up to us and told us we sounded really good," Mr Beltrame said.
Local band Happy Avenue also took to the stage as a supporting act, and they enjoyed an equally enthusiastic reception.
Happy Avenue's Rob Fattore ran to paradise when he was asked to fill in last minute for The Choirboys' lead guitarist.
"It was incredible, man," Mr Fattore said.
After the performances both bands met with the likes of The Choirboys and The Angels.
"They loved Griffith - the town, the people, the food - they all want to come back," Mr Fattore said.
"This festival has really put us back on the map."
Rewind in the Vines was a smash hit show, attracting a crowd nearly three times the size as last year's.
It was, if anything, too popular, with some festivalgoers complaining about hour long queues, crowded food vans, and not enough alcohol to go around.
Festival organiser Jack Stewart said he had taken the criticism on board and was looking to get a bigger and better venue for next year.
"It has been fantastic to receive such positive feedback, as well as important constructive criticism, around the operations that will assist the Rewind team in improving the event year on year," Mr Stewart said.
"We can't wait to show the Griffith community the improvements we have in planning for the 2020 event, not to mention the exciting line-up in store."
