It marked the end of an intense political campaign the likes of which the electorate had not seen in many decades.

The nation's eyes were firmly fixed on the coveted seat of Murray, which was one of the most hotly contested electorates in the state.

With NSW sitting on a knife-edge between Labor and the Coalition, the seat of Murray could easily make all the difference in which party got into power.

Some big name politicians came down to Griffith to bolster their local candidates in the weeks leading up to the election.

Pauline Hanson, Michael McCormack, Robert Borsak, Chris Minns, Niall Blair, Mark Latham, David Littleproud, John Barilaro - these were just some of the heavy hitters who descended on Griffith in a bid to prop up their Murray state candidates.

Now that the polling is officially closed, all that is left is for the votes to be counted and the fate of the electorate to be announced.

So close was the race that by the time of publication the votes were still too neck-and-neck to call.
