The sheep made their escape after a vandal broke into the Griffith High site of Murrumbidgee Regional High School, smashed a window, and cut a hole in a fence in the sheep enclosure.

All of the sheep were eventually rounded up and herded back into the school, which uses the sheep for its agricultural classes.

The people responsible are wanted over malicious damage to property.

In other crime news, thieves broke into Yenda Public School and stole 13 iPads.

Sometime between 5pm on March 4 and 8.30am on March 5 the criminals broke the school's sports shed and the Kindergarten classroom, where they stole the iPads.

The iPads have the name of Yenda Public School written on them, and Griffith Inspector Nick Seddon is asking people to keep an eye out. 

"If anyone comes across one of the iPads we would ask them to contact us immediately," Inspector Seddon said.

"These people have taken education resources away from children and we would like to find out who's behind it."

In other police news, there was a break and enter at a Hanwood service station on Tuesday morning at about 4.45am.

Two people smashed a front window and stole some cash and cigarettes.

The station's owner heard the commotion and ran into the station's front area, whereupon the criminals ran away and drove off in a Mitsubishi Triton and a Toyota Prado.
