Griffith City Council, at the general meeting on Tuesday, resolved to have the one-off free day at Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (GRALC) to beat the ongoing hot weather.
The facility’s swimming pool area will open free to the public from 8am to 6pm on Saturday, with the temperature forecasted to hit 43 degrees.
The usual entry fee will apply on Sunday 10am to 5pm and on the public holiday Monday 9am to 6pm.
Mayor John Dal Broi said the decision has been taken in light of the extremely high temperatures on Australia Day.
“Where possible Griffith City Council will try and accommodate the needs of our community… We won’t always be able to, but if we can we will certainly try,” Cr Dal Broi said.
Free entry does not include the gym area. For more information please contact GRALC on 6962 8228.
