Animal welfare concerns lead Griffith Associated Agents and Griffith City Council to the decision to cancel sale.
Council’s director of utilities Graham Gordon said this was a one off event, with the other Friday sales expected to go ahead.
“Due to the extent of preparation required to prepare the animals on-farm prior to being transported and delivered to the saleyards, it was felt that due to the extreme weather it would be in the best interest of the animals to cancel this Friday's sale,” Mr Gordon said.
Griffith broke even with the hottest day on record on Tuesday with the temperature reaching a blistering 46 degrees.
