Candidate nominations will close at midday on Wednesday, with the pre-poll opening on February 4.
Two names so far have been registered on the NSW Electoral commission website: Bill Lancaster and Allan Bennett.
With a promising turn out at an information session held at council Chambers on Thursday, there is hope that some of the 15 attendees will provide a great range of choice.
It is believed disqualified councilor Paul Snaidero nominated for his former position, however was refused candidacy.
Despite only two submissions thus far, mayor John Dal Broi said he hopes there would be “half a dozen” nominations up before lunchtime.
He suspects many of those who came to the information session were put-off by what was involved in being a councillor, as well as the short 18-month term.
However he hoped not, saying it was “incredibly rewarding work.”

“It is one thing to sit and complain another to get off your backside and get involved, and be part of the decision making in the community,” Cr Dal Broi said.
The byelection was made necessary after former Councillor Paul Snaidero was disqualified in November last year, after his conviction for assault was upheld in the District Court.
Mr Snaidero assaulted his then wife in their family home in December 2013 and was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in July.
