And it was Jim Salvestro who was the least sociable. It is nice to see him enjoying the run so much he simply ran out of sight, but, a rule is a rule and he will be punished when the new start times are published for round three.
There was not much cohesion amongst the early starters, as the two to eight minute groups were all over the hill like Browns cows, taking all the top placings as well as taking all the lower placings, apart from the zero walkers at the rear as usual.
The twelve minute group were running well until Ron Anson and Gary Signor burst from the pack and destroyed the formation.
The oversized pack of fourteens couldn't manage and split into two, so it was left to the sixteens and eighteens to set the example of perfect team running, and win "most sociable" for this week.
The Short course was the usual shambles of no one able to stay in any groupings ... race director tears hair out ... but still, it was nice to have excellent weather this week which allowed for a bigger turnout of juniors.
It certainly is a good idea for youngsters to stay home under the cooler in hot weather, and it could be another very hot Saturday this weekend, with a current forecast of 42°C, so please ensure you have read over the "Running in the Extreme Heat" document that can be found on the website membership area, and also under FAQ's.
The Joggers run each Saturday at 5:30pm from the water tower opposite Pioneer Park Museum, with a choice of Short or Long over the tracks and trails of Scenic Hill. Be early to register, and new runners can join on the Hill on any Saturday.
