According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service numbers eased this sale, with both lamb and mutton showing the decrease.
Lamb quality was similar to that of previous sales, with a good offering of supplementary finished lambs, along with the plainer drier types. Not all the usual buyers were present and competing in a cheaper market.
Trade weight new season lambs sold from $115 to $155/head. Old light lambs eased $7 to make from $108 to $134/head. Trade weights were $9 easier, as prices made from $132 to $157/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs showed the biggest change, easing $18 to $20/head.
Heavy lambs sold from $154 to $173 and extra heavy weights received from $176 to $199/head. Carcase prices averaged from 650c to 679c/kg cwt. Mutton numbers comprised mainly Merinos and quality continues to be very mixed.
Prices decreased as Merino ewes sold from $86 to $130/head. Crossbred ewes made from $190 to $155 and Dorper ewes received from $83 to $100/head.
