Griffith City Council’s operations director Phil King went above and beyond with his moustache game.
Shaving off what was formerly an impressive Ned Kelly beard in favor of a razor sharp set of mutton chops, Mr King also decided to give the top of his head a buzz cut.
Bringing a tie and a pair of reflective aviators to Pioneer Park last month for Council’s Mo-Ment fundraiser, Mr King’s appearance could only be described as an Australian Dr Phil, turned bus driver.
“I am happy to have been able to help raise awareness for men’s health issues, especially for prostate cancer and mental health,” Mr King said.
“I usually grow my beard each year and shave it off for the cause but I decided to have some fun at the final event and make the extra effort.
“I shaved my head and dressed up, a look which inspired a lot of laughter on the day,” Mr King said.
Aside from Mr King 12 other staff belonging to council’s Mo Bros team grew out their facial hair so far raising a total of $1600.
The money raised will go to charity affiliates of the Movember Foundation including Beyond Blue and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
“Thanks to everyone who donated, if you haven’t already, you can still make a donation by heading online to the movember.com and searching for Griffith City Council Mo Bros,” Mr King said.
Also among those participating was Angus Brown who ran 60 kilometers last month raising $1,100 for the cause of men’s health.
Angus’ father Nick brown also participated with the pair raising a total of $3,000 in donations over their page on the Movember Foundation website.

Team Brady was made in memory of the Nick’s nephew who tragically ended his own life at the beginning of the year.
“We both had the goal of $500, we felt quite surprised and it was fantastic that people donated,” Mr Brown said.
“Angus was lucky in that his football training kicked off last month and he was doing equivalent kilometers one day for training, and running for Movember the next day,” Mr Brown said.
Aside from helping to raise money Angus said his running has also given him a bigger engine to play with in the coming football season.
“It was pretty fun I enjoyed it, there were a couple of days of running in the rain,” Angus said.
