According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service numbers halved at this sale with both lamb and mutton showing the decrease.
Not all the usual buyers were present and competing in a firm to dearer market.
New season lambs held firm with trade weights selling from $135 to $164 and heavy weights reached $190/head.
Old lambs were firm to $4/head better. Trade weights sold from $145 to $170/head.
Heavy lambs received from $169 to $186 with extra heavy weights selling from $194 to $225/head.
Carcase prices averaged from 710c to 760c/kg cwt.
Mutton quality was very mixed and prices increased.
Merino ewes sold from $102 to $136/head.
Heavy crossbreds received from $130 to $155 and Dorper ewes ranged in price from $94 to $149/head.
