Deputy mayor Doug Curran cutting the ribbon to mark the start as his first official act as Deputy since his election.
“It was a great event to sink my teeth back in to everything,” Cr Curran said.
“It’s a very important event for Griffith that was well attended, and October looks set to be jam-packed with excellent events.”.
The Pink Up Griffith month will be jammed packed with events set to raise money for the McGrath Foundation, money which will be directly filtered back to MIA’s own McGrath Nurse Fiona Shields.
The Griffith Leagues Club have already had their Pink Bingo, and the over $5000 raised was made possible with inspiring community participation.
Brittany Alpen, who organised the Bingo with Nicole Scarfone said the Griffith community was “incredibly special.”
“The way we all come together to support one another is overwhelming,” Ms Alpen said.
“We did the Pink bingo last year and it was a success, so we definitely wanted to do it again this year as well.
“We managed to beat last year’s total by $1000, so if this continues nest year will be even better.
With 240 people coming to participate, participants had plenty of encouragement with all of the prizes generously donated by other businesses.
“It was crazy how everyone was so willing to donate their goods and come along,” Ms Alpen said.
“Thanks to everyone that came to the event, all the businesses that generously donated gifts,” she said.
For anyone who missed out on the bingo, there will be plenty more opportunities to take part in the pink events coming up.
