The small school struck early when Jessica Carusi was able to tuck on home from close range and give her side an early 1-0 lead.
The Lake Wyangan girls could consider themselves unlucky not to be two goals ahead when a neatly worked free-kick forced a good save from the South Wagga goalkeeper.
The Wagga school came out firing in the second half, and the Lake Wyangan defence was able to scramble well on a number of occasions to keep their slender lead.
For coach Steven Fattore it was a very proud moment.
“I can't say 100 per cent, but I would be pretty confident that this hasn't happened before, so it's a really proud moment,” he said.
“They are a really good group of girls, and they try really hard, and it's nice to see that all of the training is paying off. They have been really excited, and we have had a long wait to play this one because Wagga had to wait to play there game. It was nice to get in there and get an early goal.”
The Griffith East Public Boys side also progressed to the next stage after a 6-1 win over South Wagga.
