If Rankins Springs can defeat Barellan, and the Dragons will go in as warm favourite to win the game, the semi-finals will be played at Rankins Springs Sportsground on Saturday, July 14.
The makeup of the final four is all but decided with Rankins Springs, Goolgowi and Barellan there although the final positioning may chance especially if the Dragons, Rabbits and Rams are beaten.
Narrandera and Ivanhoe, who are both locked in the fourth position with a win each, both have to win on Saturday, and if they both get the money, then it will come down to points for and against.
The Lizards right now would be favourites to get the nod as the take on Hillston who have yet to pick up a win, while the Roosters job is a little harder as they line up against Goolgowi.
Hillston will be keen to post it’s first win in front of its home supporters in the opening game against Narrandera but will have to play out of its skin if it is to finish the season with a victory.
If Narrandera really puts it all together against Ivanhoe last week and a repeat of that form should get the Lizards over the line.
The competition front-runners, Rankins Springs, take on Barellan in the second game and while the Dragons will start favourites the blokes in Maroon and White cannot be written off as they have plenty of ability.
While most followers in the ProTen talk up the Springs, Goolgowi and Narrandera not many are saying all that much about the Rams who have just one loss and that was a very close game against Goolgowi.
I’m tipping the Dragons to win the game but Barellan is right in it, and I am the last person who would write the Rams off.
Ivanhoe has it all to play for when the Tri-Colours play Goolgowi in the final game at 3pm and as far as the Roosters are concerned they hold down equal fourth position with Narrandera and to put it bluntly if they lose it’s going to be a long trip home.
Ivanhoe’s hopes will rest on the shoulders of coach Conrad McGinty and if his players support him who knows what might happen while Goolgowi’s Billy Hale is in form and will be tough to hold out and on form the Rabbitohs look alright to me.
