The man had been playing the pokies at a hotel on Banna Avenue on Wednesday, police said.
When he won a feature he momentarily left his machine. When he returned the feature was over but his winnings, amounting to $1100 were gone.
Those with information surrounding the event should contact Griffith Police Station on 6969 4299.
Police would also like to remind pub-goers that credits in poker machines are still money, and should be watched as you would your phone or wallet.
Don't give opportunistic thieves a chance.
