The hard work of stalwart members of the musical community has paid off, and with a Griffith City Council's Community Grant under their belt, the committee is now on track to commence work refurbishing a building.
The committee’s vice president Derek Motion says this is a huge win for Griffith and the MIA.
“It will consolidate the music teaching in Griffith – like a one stop shop,” Mr Motion said.
This education facility won’t just be a win for students either, but presents “exciting” opportunities for teachers who will have employment benefits and training opportunities.
Music teacher Lachlan Pendlebury says a teacher working for the conservatorium will receive the benefits of employment – an attractive option to compete against the “ease” of working from home.
“It’s a no-brainer: The students benefit, the teachers benefit, and it will be another draw-card in attracting professionals with families to town, who may not have previously considered moving to regional areas due to a lack of educational facilities such as this,” Mr Pendlebury said.

Several instrumental teaching staff members have already completed inductions, held introductory workshops with Griffith East Public School and sought and gained support from the Griffith Musicians Club, Griffith City Band and East Rotary.
Two fundraising events have been planned, including a visit by the Sydney Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra and a concert as part of the Festival of Gardens.
The next step in the conservatorium’s completion is for teaching to start under the conservatorium banner to attract the next round of Regional Conservatorium Grants Program funding.
Regional conservatoriums provide private music tuition in a range of instruments and voice, music theory lessons, ensemble opportunities, music lessons in primary and high schools and early childhood music lessons.
“We thank the help of the Murray Conservatorium in Albury for all of the assistance they have given in helping us get this off the ground,” Mr Motion said.
