He said he thinks he’s entered around 30 competitions since he began his career in swimming at age three; his greatest inspiration being Ian Thorpe.
“He’s a good swimmer,” Nate said.
Nate’s motto and message to his friends and fans is, “Never give up!”

Griffith breaks records at SISA
The Griffith Swimming Club travelled to Wodonga last week for the Southern Inland Swimming Australia (SISA) Winter Meet, breaking records and setting new personal bests.
Griffith swimmers Nate Mingay, Samantha Taylor, and Cadence Busby broke five records on the day.
Nate Mingay broke the seven and under 25 metre butterfly record.
Samantha Taylor broke two records; the girls 200m breaststroke, and the girls 12-13 years 50m breastsroke.
And, Cadence Busby also broke two records; the 10 and under 100m breaststroke and the 10 and under 100m freestyle.
The Griffith Swimming Club placed second overall in the competition, beating 16 other teams in the combined team scores.
