This little gem within the Riverina Wine scene is inviting all to come and try out their wine flights – a light and easy tasting experience of wine matched with sweet and savoury delicacies.
Sam Brewer, owner and winemaker, spoke about the upcoming event:
“A wine flight is a tasting of a few glasses in a row,” Mr Brewer said.
“And, a flight is normally matched with some food.
“It’s an event we’re running over the weekend, from 10am until 5pm, and we’ve just got a small selection of local produce: Coolamon Cheese, Junee Chocolate Factory sweets, smallgoods from Codemo, and Riverina Grove, and Bertoldo’s Bakery.”
The elixir of life is here to have.

On the day, Yarran Wines will be showcasing five of their finest wines, including Yarran Cuvee Blanc – a light and crispy with citrus, fresh apple and tropical notes, to be paired with Bertoldo’s Bakery almond bread.
“The Durif’s quite a chocolatey style itself, which will be paired with dark chocolate coated coffee beans from Junee Chocolate Factory.
“We suit the cuisine with the wine style – you start off with a lighter white, such as a sparkling with almond bread to match, then move on to some heavier cheeses; and a bit of protein towards the end.
“We also have a few tasting notes about the wine.”
Mr Brewer welcomes all to come visit the cellar door, situated in an amazing location with enviable views.
“The event is for people who want a moderately relaxed afternoon with some nice local produce and wines,” he said.
“People are welcome to come through during the day, sit outside on the balcony or pull up inside.
“The elixir of life is here to have.”
When asked which of his wines was his favourite, Mr Brewer said:
“I always seem to favour wines that I’ve recently bottled off.
“You want to see how they’re progressing, so you’re continually tasting something you’ve just bottled.
“But, I don’t have a favourite on any given day, it’s more seasonal – as soon as the cooler weather comes along I seem to go for heavier reds; in the summer seasons, I go for lighter reds or whites.”
However, Mr Brewer notes that it is the Petit Verdot which is one of the more popular wines Yarran Wines has to offer.
Yarran Wines holds an event every June long weekend, but they also invite wine enthusiasts, family, and all to come by and have a picnic on their gorgeous land; among the grass or within the vines.
“Bring a few mates out, take it easy, and have a few glasses of wine,” Mr Brewer said.
The Yarran Wines wine flights will be held on Saturday June 9 from 10am until 5pm.
Flights are $25 and include five wines paired with samples of local produce.
Bookings are not essential, but if you want a seat it’s best to call ahead.
The Cellar Door is open from Monday to Saturday 10am – 5pm for tastings and sales.
