After making a strong start to the season with wins over Leeton and Yanco-Wamoon away from home, they returned to Yenda and fell narrowly to Tullibigeal Lake Cargelligo before the bye in round four.
Meanwhile after missing out narrowly on the finals last season West Wyalong have started the season with three wins.
While Yenda lost their last game before the by co-coach Michael Mogliotti isn’t too worried about the result.
“I think we have been going pretty well,” he said.
“The combinations are starting to come together so we will only get better.
“We had six first graders out against Lakes, so we aren’t too worried about that result. The loss will probably be good to get the cockiness (sic) out of the boys.”
West Wyalong enjoyed a come-from-behind win over Yanco-Wamoon at Ron Crowe Oval.
After the Hawks opened the scoring, the Mallee Men got back into the game with a try to Jesse Hampton in the 17th minute.
The visitors scored two unanswered tries though Mitch Pippin and Josh Higgins before West Wyalong scored two tries of their own through Justin Kerry and Craig Iverach to see the Mallee Men go into halftime up 16-14.
Pippin scores his second before the Mallee Men scored three unanswered tries to come away with a 32-20 win to keep their unbeaten start to the season alive.
According to Mogliotti if his side wants to succeed they need to be solid on their own line.
“We just have to watch our own game,” he said.
“We have to watch our defence and be pushing up in the middle of the field.”
With the bye, Yenda has had the extra week to recover and should be at full strength with the exception of a suspension according to the co-coach.
The first-grade game will get underway at around 3pm.
