It was a "cracker of a day for running" according to regular Griffith Jogger Richard West during the Hill run on Saturday, and so enthused was he that he took third place, shooting higher and with better form since many a Queens Birthday.

Skyrockets included Mia Stockwell at first, but all skyrockets eventually explode in dazzling colours and fall to earth, unless she's thinking of orbiting. Also Hamish Gunn with three runs, three top tens, and faster times each week, and Michael Colaciuri at fifth who has trimmed the packaging to get extra height ... check those times.
Bronwyn Jones at second plays out like a pinwheel, spinning back to the form she used to have before a few dud seasons. Likewise Ed Frkovic, and Louise Valenti at second has been a Feral since crackers went off the shelves and she's back for another blast.
Gianni Chiappin had a fizzer as he crossed the line second in the Long but was disqualified for early ignition, as was Nicole Dehnert in the Short, while Bacchus competition winner Adam Johnson at the rear is spent, or looking lamely for sympathy.
There was Hazardous Debris on course with Julie Duncan, Elio Minato, Neil Palframan and Michelle Quade struggling at the rear, unable to affect a launch. John Farronato at fortieth has been dropping back to earth without achieving explosive altitude despite multiple attempts.
A few Joggers are keeping the powder dry, including Peter Stockwell at thirtieth who is either afraid of his Tom Thumb or keeping the skies clear for her starburst. Also Lana Chiappin, just wait and see, and Louise Gunn at third is waiting and watching for everyone else to burn out before she fires.
Bob Barker and Roy Binks always sparkle, while Mark Andreazza, Ava Low and Angus Gunn dazzled with fastest times.
The Threepenny Bunger award went to Ryan Irvin who was nine minutes and twenty four places better than last week. And thanks go to Moreno for the throw downs to celebrate his recent first thousand kilometres with the club.
The Joggers run each Saturday at 4:30pm from the water tower opposite Pioneer Park Museum, be early to register, new runners can join on the Hill on any Saturday.
