On Sunday March 6 the Griffith community is encouraged to meet at Ted Scoby Oval in Collina at 10am for the Walk For Autism, raising money going directly to the school.
President of Griffith Autism Support group Dene Beltrame is helping organise the walk, and encourages everyone to come down to raise money and have a great time doing it.
“It came about because we wanted to create awareness for the school and help them fundraise to get some more playground equipment out there,” Ms Beltrame said.
Kids are encouraged to dress up in their favorite superhero costume to give the walk a fun and entertaining twist.
This is the first walk Griffith is hosting, and was organised by Griffith Autism Awareness group in conjunction with the Yenda school.
There will be one, two and five kilometer courses available to either run or walk.
The attendees will take part in the walk event to coincide with the Walk for Autism week, which runs from April 8 to April 15.
The event will cost $5 for children aged 10 years and under, $10 for those aged 11-18 years and $20 for adults. A barbecue and drinks will be available on the day.
Registrations for the walk will be held on the day between 9am and 10am.
