This weekend the side takes on the Griffith Black and Whites at EW Moore Oval on Sunday afternoon.
Leeton hasn’t taken to the field since their first-round loss to the Yenda Blueheelers almost a fortnight ago thanks to the bye last weekend.
While many would have liked to get a roll on with the season, Leeton coach Clinton Green thought it came at an okay time.
“It wasn’t too bad actually because we had four of our players in the Group 20 representative side, so it was good for them in that they didn’t have to back up the next day and play,” he said.
“Unfortunately James Fisher got a knock to the head in that game … he was actually knocked out, so I’m not sure how he’s looking for this weekend, but he might be out.”
Josh Fisher is another injury concern for the Greens, who will need to be at the top of their game if they are to defeat last year’s premiers in the Panthers.
The Greens trained on Tuesday night this week to give players the night off on Anzac Day.
They will hit the paddock again on Friday evening to put the final touches on their game plan.
“We had a pretty good run during the week off as well,” Green said.
“Coming into this game I think we’ve prepared well.”
The Greens will now look to play consistent football while registering vital wins at the same time.
Towards the end of May their calendar starts to look a little difficult, with roads trips to Lake Cargelligo, West Wyalong and Hay in three consecutive away games.
“We need to start winning now and make all of our games count,” Green said.
“Those are pretty big trips, so we need to be setting ourselves up well.”

Leeton’s first game of the year had them start quickly against Yenda, but their lead dwindled in the second half as they let the Blueheelers back into the game.
Green believes a good start is still the key, but maintaining the pressure is also important.
“The momentum is always going to change in most games, so you need to be ready for that to happen and not drop the lead,” he said.
