16-year-old Harriet grew up with the passion for country music and singing, and has loved being a part of Tamworth’s Country Music Festival for the past six years.
“Mum decided to take us down to the festival when I was around 10 so we could check it out. I loved it so much we came back the next year and I started entering competitions, and every year I have built on that,” Harriet said.
Her mum noticed her talent as a tune-loving toddler, and took her to a talent quest in Leeton when she was 11-years-old.
“I got a couple of trophies and it really sparked my interest. I’ve just kept going from there,” Harriet said.
Young Musicians of the Year
Harriet has been in the Young Musicians competition three times now, making it into the finals in her first year, taking away the People’s Choice the next, and now completing the third competition in the top spot.
“I’ve gone a little better each year, which is a great feeling,” Harriet said.
“I was pretty nervous this year, but once I started singing I relaxed and it was really good.”
Harriet is no stranger to the stage, and has performed for many events in the MIA as well as inter-state.
Tamworth Country Music Festival
She headed over to the Tamworth Country Music Festival for the sixth time this year, and had the opportunity of a lifetime singing alongside renowned artists such as Adam Harvey, Lynn Bowtell, Amber Lawrence and many others.
”Tamworth is a hectic time of the year, but it’s also the best time, and it is definitely a highlight for me,” Harriet said.
Check out Harriet singing Fly by country music duo Maddie and Tae at the Country Turns Pink concert at the Tamworth Music Festival:
Last year she did Carter and Carter Shine, where seven up and coming artists got picked in the show at the Capital Theatre, and this year did Country Turns Pink, where an established artist picks an up-and-coming artist to sing together and by themselves.
Gina Timms picked Harriet for this, and Harriet also went on to be a featured artist in Gina Timms Birthday Bash Show.
Harriet made the finals of the Aristocrat Entertainer of the Year competition, and competed in the Coca-cola Battle of the Young Stars.
MIA Performances
In and around the MIA, Harriet has also performed in Hillston for those driving the RedNeck Rally, and opened for Ben Ceccato’s Album launch at St. Albens Cathedral, and performed a few gigs in the duo “Outback Opry” with Jorja Dalton.
And as for her future music career, music will play a starring role, but whether full-time or on the side is yet to be determined.
“It just depends on how it all pans out,” Harriet said.
