A pleasant cool change made life easier for golfers contesting a single stableford at the Griffith Golf Club last Saturday, though the stiff breeze added to the challenge.

Max Turner, 40 points, won A Grade, 80 off the stick, ahead of Gerry Cox 32 points.
John Gale, 40 points, was best in B Grade, nailing a birdie on the 11th. Dom Guglielmino on 35 points was runner-up, draining a birdie on the 13th.
Byron James, 37 points, won C Grade, a four point par on the 4th., over John Dalton, 36 points, with a five point birdie on the second.
Pro Pins won by Martin Sweeney and Neil Mahaffey. Par Threes: 4th J Magoci, 7th Grant Gyles, 11th Ray Barrington, 16th Dom Guglielmino.

The best Sunday field for sometime saw players contest a single stableford.
Allan Andreazza, 36 points, won A Grade, nailing a birdie on the 7th with Dean Minato, 35 points, second, a birdie on the 17th.
Craig Dredge, 37 points, won B Grade, 22 points out from Jeff Wiscombe, 35 points with seven pars.
The C graders tore the course apart, Anthony Zamin having the game of his life, carding the winning score of 48 points. He could do no wrong, playing off a 23 handicap, he fired 82 off the stick, nailing a birdie on the 7th to score 23 points out then came home in 40 strokes to card 25 points, four pointers on the second, and 12th. A shell-shocked Paul Woodward carded 43 points, but only good enough for second, with nine three pointers.
It was also the qualifier for the WRDGA Mixed 4 Ball Championship.
Lesley Bock and Terry Bennett +3, Val and James Browne +2 and Pat and Gerry Cox +1 a will all go onto the second round.
Anthony Zamin won the 7th pin, Bryan Trembath 11th.

Luke DeValentin won the Masters Tipping Competition, a three way tie for second, Jeff Wiscombe, Rod McNabb and Geoff Cotterill.
The AGM is only two weeks away, on Tuesday, May 1. Only three nominations for board positions have been posted. The financial report for the past year has also been posted.
The veterans played a single stableford last Thursday and it was also the First Round of the Cudmore-Williams Trophy against Leeton.
Norm Harrison(Leeton) won the day, carding 38 points, Tony McBride 36 points second and Gerry Cox 35 points third on a countback over Ron Smith 35 points.
Joe Cudmore won the 7th pin, Noel Foley 11th, Bob Painting 16th.
Vouchers went to 33 points.
Thursday’s event is a single stableford.
Club competitions for the week are single stablefords on Wednesday and Sunday, a single stroke on Saturday.
