Goals to Ryan McWhirter and Michael Cimador proved to be the difference as Hanwood One were able to handle the challenge from Hanwood Two
Hanwood One coach Jason Bertacco was pleased with his side’s performance especially considering most of the guys hadn’t played together.
It was a challenging round one encounter which is what you want,” he said.
"Lots of the boys hadn’t played together, so it was good for them to have a good hit out.”
Bertacco praised the way his side stood up defensively after scoring the first goal.
“After taking the lead they were able to create some pretty good chances,” he said.
“They had four or five good chances which could have seen them draw level.
“We were able to see out that challenge and score another goal after that to get the result.”
The Hanwood coach praised the build-up play and finished for both of their goals.
Hanwood One will now prepare themselves for a West Griffith side who will be looking to bounce back from a challenging first game against Yoogali SC.
Hanwood Two will take on Yoogali FC One at Yellowtail Park.
