AUSTRALIAN music royalty will headline an inaugural music festival in Griffith this weekend as part of the city’s massive Easter celebrations.
Rewind in the Vines will kick off at Miranda Winery from 3pm on Easter Sunday with a long line-up of local and chart-topping music, led by Daryl Braithwaite and Ross Wilson.
Jack Stewart, from event organisers 100% Events, said final checks were being done and everything was now in place.
“We have been working with council and the police,” Mr Stewart said. “When you’re building a new event there is no such thing as easy.
“We’ve had help on the ground from Griffith City Council, particularly Karly Sivewright … and also Griffith Vintage Festival, who we’re sharing a site with and have been working with collaboratively.
“Having those contacts on the ground always helps.”
Braithwaite and Wilson will be supported by local artists Bootleg Rascal, Happy Avenue, Ben Ceccato and Heatstroke, but it is the headliners that will be the drawcard.
Braithwaite was the lead vocalist of Sherbet before a solo career that resulted in 15 singles charting in the Australian top 40. That included two number-one hits, You're My World in 1974 and The Horses in 1991, as well as a number-one album on the ARIA chart.
Last year Braithwaite was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

Wilson is a two-time hall-of-famer, for his solo work as well as that of his first big band, Daddy Cool.
The singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer was a co-founder and frontman of Daddy Cool, which released the number-one hit Eagle Rock in 1970, followed by Mondo Rock, with hits including Come Said the Boy and Cool World, as well as a solo career and production and writing career that produced many hits.
“We’re pretty stoked with the line-up we’ve been able to put together,” Mr Stewart said.
“Daryl and Ross are both Aussie icons and ARIA Hall-of-Famers. Both put on a cracking show and we’re excited to see what they have put together. The local bands are also all top quality.”
100% Events organises a range of sporting and cultural events.
“A music festival is something we’ve been looking at putting on for a while,” Mr Stewart said. “Griffith, as a town with those demographics and the connections we have there, made it an ideal venue.
“There’s more music festivals we’re looking at doing in the future and we’re 100 per cent looking to bring Festival in the Vines back to Griffith in 2019.”
Tickets are still available online or at the Footy Focus pop-up store in Griffith Central, and will also be available at the gate.
