The town’s biggest event is on Saturday with the track in great nick and a forecast mostly sunny day with tops of 36 degrees.
It always helps to be prepared so here is a survival guide for the day.
Getting there
Buses will be departing at 12.30pm from Griffith Visitors centre and will return to Griffith from the racecourse at 8.30pm and 11.45pm.
Buses will be running regularly between the racecourse and the Carrathool Pub until 11.30pm.
Punting prowess
Last year Wagga trainer Trevor Sutherland won every race on the card, so hot tip is to follow his horses this year.
Be mindful of the weather
It’s going to be a hot one so make sure you dress accordingly whether that be with a sombrero or an akubra.
Drink water, lots of water, you will thank yourself on Sunday.
Fashionista or scruffbag?
It’s a bush meet, take it as seriously as you want.
There are awards up for grabs for the best dressed gentleman, the belle of the boughshed (under 25 years old), the best dressed couple and the lady of the day.
Don’t forget the famous Jillaroo Sprint and Jackaroo Dash so make sure you dress in your best running outfit.
Plan your after party
If you haven’t packed the swag, you might need to plan your kick ons (including who’s the driver) and continue the party at the Griffith or Hay pubs or even the Hay Mardi Gras event.
Camping is available at the racecourse for those not wanting to worry about getting home.
