The current holders of the Fifita Cup and League Tag competition have an extra week to prepare for this year's competition.
Griffith High’s Lily-Belle Misiloi is confident in the League Tag side’s ability to make it two in a row after taking the title off Wade High last year.
“It's a good feeling heading into the season as defending champions, and hopefully we can back it up,” she said.
“The girls are looking really good. We lack a bit of fitness, but we have a couple of weeks to work on it.”
Meanwhile, the open boy's side from Griffith High has been a dominant force, winning the last four Fifita Cups in a row and will be looking to continue the streak with Moses Lolohea saying the side will be good to go come game time.
“It's a bit rough at the moment, but a few more training sessions and I think we will be good,” he said.
“The plan is to keep the streak alive. The past years have been doing it, so I guess we will carry it on, but I guess we will see what happens.”
The competition will be played over the next three Monday’s with Wade and Marian facing off on March 5, Marian will then take on Griffith High on March 12 with the big clash between Griffith and Wade on March 19.
The action will get underway with League Tag starting at 4.30pm followed by under 16s kicking off 5.30pm with the Opens rounding out the night at 6.40pm.
