The 53 year-old man was travelling toward Barellan this morning when he collided with a number of trees, stopping near the base of the Barellan tennis racquet.
Police believe he was killed upon impact.
The circumstances of the collision are still under investigation, but Police believe fatigue and speed may be contributing factors.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Wayne McLachlan said police are asking people to take extra care on the roads over Christmas.
“In the lead up to Christmas we are urging all motorists to drive to the road conditions and take regular rest breaks,” he said.
The man was the only human occupant in the vehicle, however was travelling with two dogs who have since been transported to the pound.
