After coming close to being only the second team to take points off of Exies last weekend, Hanwood know where improvements need to be made heading into this weekend’s game against Diggers.
Hanwood was right in the fight with the game against Exies being decided with under three overs remaining and captain Dean Catanzariti said it came down to one factor.
“I think the dropped catches really cost us,” he said.
‘We thought we probably scored a bit slowly, but in the end, if we had of taken our chances it would have been enough.”
Catanzariti said he could see his side are making improvements as the season has progressed.
“We haven’t been able to get runs on the board in terms of wins,” he said.
“We have been a lot better in recent weeks and probably should have won last weekend, so we are confident heading into this weekend.”
It’s going to be a busy weekend for all the teams in the GDCA with 40 over games being played on Saturday before backing it up on Sunday for the Don ‘Captain’ Coleman Twenty20 Shield which will see sides play two games before the top two face off in the grand final on Sunday night.
Catanzariti said his side will look quite different come Sunday.

“We won’t be expecting our older guys to back up on Sunday,” he said. “It will probably be a sort of mixed side with A and B grade players.”
In the meetings between the two sides so far this season both sides have been able to pick up wins with Diggers taking the 40 over meeting while Hanwood took out the timed match.
