The grand final rematch will again take centre stage this weekend as Coro Cougars prepare to take on Leagues at Exies No 2 on Saturday.
The benchmark teams for the past couple of years and fought it out in both the one-day and two-day deciders last season.
Leagues took out both finals last year thanks to the batting skills of youngster Reece Matheson who score 80 in the two-day final and was able to save Leagues in the one-day final with 44* when the side was in a dangerous position.
Both sides had games affected by the rain last weekend with Leagues game called off when they were in a decent position against Hanwood while Coro’s game against Diggers was called off without a ball being bowled.
Coro captain Haydn Pascoe has confidence in his side heading into the game.
“We aren’t looking too bad and should head into the game with the same side we were going to play last weekend before it was called off,” he said.
“Young Nick Witherspoon and Jamie Bennett are coming into the side for second grade, so it is a great chance for them.”
Given the sides have faced off in the deciding stage of the last few season Pascoe knows it is going to be a tough game.
“It is always fun to come up against these guys, and there is no real animosity between the sides which leads to a good game,” he said.
“They have a really good young team, so we are going to have to work hard to get the win this weekend.
“We were a bit disappointed not to get on last week so it will be good to get back out there.”
Another day game for Leagues means they will have the services of key opening bowler Satvir Chalal which will help his side's chances.
