Over 300 cars took part in the event to benefit two local charities, Can Assist Griffith and Riding for the disabled.
After raising roughly $9000 in 2016, this year’s efforts nearly doubled the total. Monday night’s count put the total at over $17,100.
2017 was the event’s biggest year yet in terms of turnout and participation.
Event coordinator Sally Centofanti attributes the night’s growth to it’s new committee.
This year’s event, she says, exceeded all expectations.
Cars travelled from across the country to take part.
“We had cars come from Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and surrounds. That was great to see,” she said.
“The amount of feed back we’ve had about the event being family friendly has been fantastic as well.”

With the event now into it’s sixth year, Ms Centofanti says that it’s clear that Griffith love turning out to watch the cars and support a good cause.
“We always support those charities because the money stays locally,” she said.
Griffith resident Lisa Boye also took part in the festivities, shaving her head for charity.
The success was felt by others as well. A BBQ organised by Can Assist completely sold out of food before the end of the evening.
Ms Centofanti loved seeing the main street of Griffith roar to life.
“It was really great to see the main street come alive. I always say that this main street was designed for Griffith’s biggest lap,” she said.
“The sound and the smell create that atmosphere.”
Griffith LAC were also impressed with the behaviour of everyone involved.
“There were no issues. Highway Patrol told us that they were happy with everyone,” Ms Centofanti said.
With hundreds of cars taking part, it was difficult to pick a single favourite.
Among the standouts was Flynn Barnes, aged one, in a model built by his dad.
Ms Centafenti also loved Mark Harris’ award winning car.
“If it didn’t wake up all of Griffith I don’t know what would. It was amazing.”
