It was an eventful day for the club, and one sure to still be in the minds of many of the Swans players lining up again on Saturday.
The Swans took on powerhouse club Collingullie-Glenfield Park, going down despite a gallant four-quarter effort.
It’s only taken two years before the Swans have earned redemption, once again facing the Demons for the 2017 RFL reserves flag, but this time as favourites.
Here’s The Area News report from the clubs’ most recent decider when they met in the 2015 decider ...

GRIFFITH reserve grade coach Dave Dunbar applauded the courage of his players after the Swans’ narrow 13-point loss to Collingullie-Glenfield Park in Sunday’s Riverina Football League grand final in Narrandera.
The Swans led by one point at quarter time, but from that moment the Demons edged away to slowly build their buffer.
At times the Demons threatened to blow the game wide open, but the Swans always managed to stay in touch before going down 15.16 (106) to 13.15 (93).
Mathew Peruzzi booted three goals for the Swans, while teammate Joe Schirripa topped the list of best players.
While gutted to lose the match, Dunbar said his players couldn’t have done much more on the field.
“Credit to our boys,” he said.
“We had a crack all the way to the end.
Credit to our boys. We had a crack all the way to the end ... We never went away.
- Dave Dunbar.
“Every now and then they (Collingullie-Glenfield Park) would be five goals in front, but we just kept coming back at them.
“We never went away.
“But at the end of the day, Collingullie were just too good.
“They got a few lucky bounces, but credit to them. They deserved to win.”
