When Darren Neyenhuis went to the doctor with a sore foot, it initially seemed that he had gout.
Sadly, the Ardlethan father of three has an infection that had steadily worsened and he has spent more than a month in hospital in Sydney as doctors try to save his foot.
Mr Neyenhuis, who is nicknamed Bulldog, is facing many more weeks in hospital and months away from his job as a plant operator.
With this in mind, Mr Neyenhuis’s motorcycling mates are coming together to organise a fund-raising ride to help his family.
The Ride for Bulldog will be held on Saturday and will start in Mr Neyenhuis’s home town of Ardlethan.
Riders will meet at 9.30am in Lions Park and “stands up” will be at 10am. The cost is a $50 ride donation, with $20 for pillion riders.
The ride will travel through Rankins Springs, Weethalle, West Wyalong and Mirrool. The last stop is the Beckom Hotel for a sausage sizzle and entertainment, including a performance by musician Garnet Hawkins.
