Griffith Base Hospital’s children’s ward had a major win recently earning a big financial boost, thanks to a local promotion and another lucky winner shopper.
For Griffith man Anthony Nehme $50 has become more than $7000 after his winning raffle ticket earned him an ultimate Shopping Spree.
His win was part of Triple M’s Give Me 5 for Kids annual fundraiser seeing all money raised used to purchase new equipment for the Griffith Base Hospital’s Children’s Ward.
Over the years with the generosity of locals and the business community it has allowed the ward to purchase much-needed equipment such as an IV Access AccuVein device, breast pumps and temporary bedding to allow parents to sleep in the ward with their children.
Tracey Greenhalgh, Head Nurse of the Children’s Ward at GBH, thanked the community and local businesses on the Triple M Breakfast Show for supporting the ward and allowing them to provide a better facility to treat local kids.
It’s been another successful year for “Give Me 5 for Kids” with over $7500 raised, bringing the total over five years of fundraising to more than an impressive $30,000.
The chance to win a $7000 Shopping Spree was just one way the money was raised.
Vaccari’s Pies’ annual Pie Day Friday saw $1 for every one of their 1500 pies sold going towards the cause.
Also the generosity of the Griffith Kart Club saw another $1500 raised with a “Come’n’Try” day.
