Griffith Police are investigating a late-night Wednesday incident where a man made a run for it – but not before dropping a backpack containing stolen property.
The man was walking on Palla Street carrying the black backpack when he saw police, prompting him to immediately drop the bag and make his escape.
Looking inside the backpack police found four large packets of meat believed to have been stolen from just one local supermarket.
Griffith police say they are following up on the matter and investigating who the man might have been.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Nick Seddon said action would be taken on the man for stealing once they confirmed his identity and made an arrest.
