Auctioneering is as male-dominated an occupation as they come, but it was two women who stole the show at the Yanco Novice Auctioneers Competition (NAC) heat last week.

Rachal Broadbent, property manager at Glenn Preston Real Estate Leeton, won the heat at her first-ever attempt with the gavel.
The Real Estate Institute NSW event pitted inexperience auctioneers against each other, with proceeds going to charity. Nearly $4,000 was raised for the McGrath Foundation, almost as much as is made at the much larger Sydney events.
”It was her effervescence and larger than life personality that got Rachal home,” Tony Santolin of Griffith Real Estate said.
Also making a splash was Griffith Real Estate receptionist Talia Macri, who overcame nerves and charmed the crowd into bidding $450 for Argentina v Brazil soccer tickets worth just $120.
Rachal will now go on to the NAC state final in Sydney where the overall winner collects $1,000.
A special thanks was also directed at Herron Todd White for sponsoring the Yanco event.
