HAVE you got your outfit ready for this Saturday’s Leeton Cup Race Day at the Leeton Jockey Club?
The Leeton Racecourse will be awash with people dressed to the nines enjoying what is a big day on the town’s social calendar, as well as prime thoroughbred flesh on the track.
Leeton Jockey Club president Grant Fitzsimon encouraged everyone to take part and knows people look forward to the races.
“It’s the enjoyment of having a day out,” he said.
“There’s not a lot of opportunity where people can meet and greet and enjoy the autumn weather.
“It is an opportunity for people to catch up. It’s a fun day out and it’s a once-a-year thing for Leeton.
“It’s our main social event for the jockey club; it keeps the club surviving each year.”
The meeting will feature six races, with the first to jump about 1.15pm.
The cystic fibrosis Great Escape Rally entrants will again man the gate this year, with the Yanco Amateur Swimming Club running the canteen.
Gates open at 11.30am and entry is $15. There is no BYO.
Patrons may bring their own chairs and a picnic, but no alcohol is allowed through the gate.
There will be live music throughout courtesy of Blame Sally and the fashions on the field competition will be held after race three.

Racing nominations closed on Monday, with final acceptances to be made on Thursday morning.
The grounds are again in spectacular condition.
“The Clancy family, Greg and his father Peter, who is a trainer, look after the track,” Mr Fitzsimon said.
“The abandoned meeting from last year was run in January and there were jockeys saying it was as good as anywhere. It has stayed at that level.
“And the grounds are great.
“If the weather is not suitable, there’s enough undercover areas to socialise and keep involved in the day.”
Corporate sponsors will be looked after on the day in a dedicated marquee. Spaces for general marquees are still available.
Anyone wanting to book a marquee site should call Mr Fitzsimon on 0428 534 686.
The after-party will be at the MIA Function Centre for patrons to kick on into the night. This year's party will feature live music by Living in Paradise and there will be food available.
There will be full security on site throughout the night, with taxis also available.
“The last race is at 4.30pm, so any time after that people can move down there,” Mr Fitzsimon said.
The Leeton Cup calcutta will be held at the Wade Hotel on Friday night to kick off proceedings.
“It starts the weekend off and hasn’t been too bad (in its short history),” Mr Fitzsimon said.
“Once people know what it’s about, it has worked ok. The winner got $2000 to $3000 last year.”
