During the project-based learning unit the students from years 5 and 6 made solar lanterns which have now been given to the Bupa Aged Care facility to brighten up their gardens.
Teacher, Gary Workman said it had been a successful program for the students.
“Along the way with the project, they created drafts and provided feedback to improve their completed lanterns,” he said.
“It was a great opportunity to let the kid's creative side come out while learning about solar energy.”
The decision to give the completed lanterns to Bupa was made after the students thought it would be a great way to add something extra to the gardens around the facility.
The children along with Mr Workman thanked those at the aged care facility for giving them the chance to present them with around 10 solar lamps all with their own design.
