GRIFFITH Base Hospital is seeking local women who have had a baby at the hospital in the past five years to help develop a new model of maternity care.
The hospital is planning to introduce a new maternity service allowing women to be cared for by the same midwife throughout their pregnancy and offer early discharge with midwifery care in their home.
“We are offering this new model of care with medical support, to provide women with a wider range of options and continuity of care,” Maternity Unit Manager Angela Cregan said.
Ms Cregan said continuity of care with the same midwife increase the woman’s satisfaction with the experience.
Women using the service will be offered early discharge between six to 48 hours and will receive care from their midwife for up to seven days.
If you have been a consumer of the GBH maternity service within the last five years and would like further information or to submit an expression of interest, please contact Angela Cregan on telephone 6969 5717, or by email on angela.cregan@health.nsw.gov.au.
