Griffith Regional Theatre manager and Art Ms Raina Savage said the band’s unique sound has influenced some of the world’s biggest artists including Bruce Springsteen, The Byrds and Tom Petty.
“The Searchers contributed enormously to British music Industry, with record sales excess of 45 million,” she said
“This is a truly one off opportunity to see one of the world’s greatest bands right here in Griffith.”
Local music icon Pat Sergi is continuously amazed by the calibre of talent such as The Searches brought to Griffith by the tireless work done by the amazing Theatre.
“To be on The Searchers tour schedule is a great big plus on its own,” Mr Pat Sergi said.
“And having them preform in our very own Regional Theatre, which is also a privilege.”
“Going back to my era when we preformed in backyards and tin sheds, and now to have a international act like The Searchers here preforming is wonderful.”
Even though many people believe we are too out of the way Mr Sergi tends to think Griffith is in the perfect spot geographically.
Mr Sergi feels the city needs to support the theatre to help build Griffith to become a entertainment hub of the region.
“The promoters will look at the records and say Griffith is a good place we should add to their tour.” Mr Sergi said
“The Regional Theatre has been great you can see by some of the musicals that we have had.
“(It) is the best theatre out side Sydney metropolitan area.”
“I’ve seen many, many acts in the theatre, from impersonators, as well Tommy Emanuel, Phil Emanuel and Patrizio Buanne - another international star.
“If we didn’t have our theatre, we wouldn’t have the opportunities we have today.”
With their rich harmonies The Searchers took the world by storm, and Griffith gets a rare opportunity to witness their talent.
