POLICE activity at a residential property near East Griffith caused traffic and pedestrians to be diverted on Wednesday morning.
Several police cars arrived at a MacArthur Street property just before 10am and officers closed the road, a neighbour recalled.
“We are not too sure what is going on but police have been in and out all morning and they have been coming out with big evidence bags,” the neighbour who did not wish to be named said.
“The people that live there are usually up all night making noise and there was a lot of noise there last night.”
The street was closed temporarily as police made inquiries at the property and executed a search warrant.
A lady who is believed to live at the property appeared aggressive to passersby.
Just before 12pm, police appeared to be searching a vehicle parked in the driveway of the property and conducted door knocks of surrounding properties.
Griffith Local Area Command confirmed investigations are ongoing into an incident that occurred at the property on the evening of Tuesday, January 24.
A man is in police custody assisting with police enquiries.
