The Riverina is set for a transformation – the art silo craze has arrived in Weethalle.
Bland Shire Council has announced a professional artist will transform a silo, focusing on a theme in the local community, by June this year.
With a budget of $10,000, Bland Shire Council’s Craig Sutton said the art silo project will bring much needed economic benefit to the community.
“We have received a handful of submissions from artists and are excited for a significant artist to showcase their work,” Mr Sutton said.
“The village community out here is really struggling, where there was four families to four farms there is now one.
“The hope is that this will lure people here to see the art and they can spend a few dollars on local businesses while they are here.
“It gives the community a real boost.”
Mr Sutton said a panel of local identities and council members will work with the chosen artist on a theme for the silos.
