Operation Drink Drive 2 is targeting drink drivers, drug drivers and speeding from November 3 to November 5.
“If you are planning on drinking, use some common sense and organise a designated driver, use the courtesy bus or use a taxi service, It’s not worth risking your life or your licence,” Senior Constable Benjamin Rice from Griffith Highway Patrol said.
“It is disappointing that drivers still take unacceptable risks on our roads, last weekend four drivers were detected for drink driving…these were within ranges from 0.052 to as high as 0.180.
“These people who take these unnecessary risks are not only putting themselves in danger, but putting other road users in danger as well,” Constable Rice added.
With 332 lives already lost on NSW roads, 42 more than this time last year, police have urged drivers to take responsibility for their actions and travel safe.
“It's pretty simple, obey the laws so we all go home to our loved ones,” Constable Rice said.
“This year we have had far too many drivers killed and injured on our roads.”
